Exol takes part in Rothen Group’s Award film celebrating aire & calder navigation restoration

Exol was recently invited to take part in a special video project with The Rothen Group (TRG), following their nomination at the upcoming British Construction & Infrastructure Awards (BCIA). TRG has been named a finalist in the Upgrade and Renewal Project category for its essential repair work on the Aire & Calder Navigation – the key waterway used by the Exol Pride barge.

As part of the nomination process, TRG is producing a film for the BCIA judges, highlighting the impact of the restoration project on local businesses and industries. Exol was asked to contribute a testimonial on how the repair works have benefited our operations, ensuring the Exol Pride can once again travel the commercial route efficiently and reliably.

To support the project, Exol’s Operations Manager, Daniel Hector, attended the filming day on the Aire & Calder Navigation, sharing insight into the importance of the waterway to our logistics, sustainability efforts and long-term supply chain strategy.

The repair has significantly improved our ability to transport raw materials between sites via barge, a method that reduces road miles, supports greener transport and maintains consistent supply even during periods of high demand.

The completed film will be presented to BCIA judges on 6 September and is expected to be showcased during the awards ceremony itself.

We’re proud to contribute to this project and to support The Rothen Group in their well-deserved recognition. The restoration of the Aire & Calder Navigation has been invaluable to Exol’s operations, and we wish TRG the very best at the awards.
